“I didn’t really go out because I was always preparing for exams and competitions my teacher signed me up for,” Liana recalls.

In 2015, Liana arrived in Australia, where she later decided to continue her musical journey—this time with a focus on creating meaningful journeys for others. Her piano teaching career began in 2019, and over time, she established her own studio, now known as FortePiano Academy.

    First Lesson Assessment
Your first lesson will include an initial assessment to understand the student's current level and set personalized goals. This helps tailor the lessons to suit individual needs and ensure a structured learning path.
    Proper Equipment
For at-home lessons, having a full-range piano (88 keys) and an adjustable chair is crucial. This ensures that students can practice effectively and develop proper technique. A well-maintained instrument contributes significantly to a student’s progress.
    Regular Practice
Regular practice is essential for improvement. Students are expected to follow the practice schedule and complete homework assignments provided by the teacher. This routine helps reinforce concepts learned during lessons and fosters continual growth.
    Exam Preparation
For students aiming to take exams, preparation is integrated into the lessons seamlessly. Exams are approached as milestones in the learning journey rather than high-pressure events, ensuring students feel confident and well-prepared.
    Commitment
Piano journey requires dedication. Consistent attendance and regular practice are key to making steady progress. Commitment from both students and parents is essential to achieving the best results.
    Materials and Books
Students will need to purchase certain materials, such as music books and sheet music, as recommended by the teacher. These materials are essential for following the curriculum and ensuring comprehensive learning. Guidance will be provided on where and when to purchase these materials.

    Frequently Asked Questions
    • How do I enrol myself or my child in piano lessons?
Enrolling is as simple as just calling or texting us to discuss your child’s needs and schedule. We’ll book the lessons during our conversation.
    • At what age can my child start piano lessons?
Children can start piano lessons as early as 4 years old. The ideal starting age depends on the child’s ability to stay focused during the lesson. Some young children may naturally have this ability, while others might need a bit more time to develop it. Piano lessons can actually help improve focus and concentration, so even if your child is just starting to develop these skills, lessons can be beneficial. The teacher tailors the approach to suit the individual needs and readiness of each child, so if they are interested in music, you can start anytime you want, after all the most important thing is the love for music!
    • What are the available lesson durations and costs?
We offer 30-minute lessons for $65 AUD, 45-minute lessons for $75 AUD, and 60-minute lessons for $85 AUD. Discounts are available for multiple lessons per week and upfront payments, which you will learn about in detail from our Program Guide once you enrol.
    • Do you prepare students for performances and exams?
Yes, we prepare students for AMEB exams and various performances.
    • What if my child has a busy schedule with other activities?
Flexible scheduling options are available. Since your child is busy with other classes, it would help to have more frequent lessons with the piano teacher to ease the burden of self practice required for steady musical progress.
    • How often should I have lessons, and how much should I practice on my own?
For optimal progress, twice-weekly lessons are essential. They provide more consistent practice and personalised feedback. It is advised to do practice between lessons, with the duration depending on the student’s level – beginners should aim for 10-20 minutes, while more advanced students may practice for 40-60 minutes. The homework composed by your teacher focuses on efficiency rather than the length of your practice, it is better to practice more often rather than do a lot of work for long hours.
    • What is your cancellation policy?
There is no charge upon cancellation as long as you reschedule your lesson within the same week. However, we kindly ask you to notify the teacher at least 24 hours in advance.
